Exegesis (5)As already explained in the lexical analysis, العَقْدُ signifies الوَلَايَةُ عَلَى البَلَدِ that is, the governance, rule and authority of a land. Similarly, it also signifies البَيْعَةُ لِلْوُلَاةِ, meaning pledging of allegiance to rulers and caliphs.
