TWO women have been convicted of multiple counts of thefts following a series of shoplifting offences in Bath. Caroline Beaverstock and Samantha Selway, both 35, were arrested and charged by neighbourhood officers as part of ongoing efforts to tackle shop thefts in the city. Both pleaded guilty when they appeared before magistrates in Bath. Beaverstock, of Combe Park, was given a 12-month conditional discharge and a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order.

240 MEMBERS of the 23rd Salisbury Scouts came together for a special camping trip to mark the group’s 80th birthday. The roots of the Salisbury Scouts stretch back to just before the end of the Second World War in March 1945 – and its traditions and activities are still taking place today. This birthday celebration paid homage to the group’s very first Scouts who walked the 11.1 miles from the Scout Hall in Stratford Road to Barry’s Field in Winterslow for the very first camp out.

A CHURCH clock that experts believe is one of the oldest working timepieces in the country is set to return to its home in Somerset. The much-loved clock at the historic St Catherine’s Church in Montacute near Yeovil has been undergoing specialist restoration since its removal in March. The clock was previously thought to have been constructed in the 1600s.

Inspectors came to Shrewton CE Primary School on May 30 for an update, with the previous inspection finding the school to be ‘good’ in all areas. This year’s inspection praised the school’s strong leadership, inclusive ethos, and commitment to excellence.

RESIDENTS living in Wiltshire Council housing in Amesbury are being asked to be aware of suspicious scam texts. These texts claim to be from the ‘Housing Maintenance Disrepair Team’ that claims that an urgent repair is needed. They ask people to book appointments and request personal information, including how much people pay for rent, before demanding videos and photos of the property. The scammers reportedly become aggressive when information was not shared with them.
