The problem with reviews is that you are reliant upon those who write them. I don’t mean that you have to trust these people, these “reviewers”: you don’t, you can choose to dismiss everything they say. Sometimes, you may read a book precisely because a particular reviewer disliked it (though this, I suppose, is also a form of trust).
