A group of Catoosa County citizens confronted the school board Tuesday evening, April 9, about what they consider inappropriate books in one Heritage Middle School teacher’s eighth-grade classroom. Many people in Walker County came together recently to pick up trash that had flown out of trucks or had been intentionally tossed along roadsides: beer and soda cans, dirty diapers, mattresses and box springs, syringes, tires, household trash and more. Tina Groce, founder of Operation Outreach, an organization that helps veterans and also gives them an opportunity to continue serving their communities beyond their military service, was looking for a way to help in Walker County where she lives.
