A healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables has been linked to better mental well-being(Reference Blanchflower, Oswald and Stewart-Brown1–Reference Saghafian, Malmir and Saneei5). Critically, diets rich in nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables may causally benefit mental health by lowering depressed mood or improving well-being(Reference Jacka, O’Neil and Opie6–Reference Conner, Brookie and Carr10).
