Richard Carroll was lured to the health fair at Illinois Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting by a bucket of giveaways. The decision ultimately led to the discovery that the 78-year-old former IFB director has prostate cancer. As part of the health fair at December’s Annual Meeting, members could stop by a handful of booths for skin cancer and glucose screenings, blood pressure measurements, and blood draws testing Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) levels.

The U.S. House on Thursday narrowly passed a budget blueprint that clears the way for extending the 2017 tax cuts. The 216-214 House vote allows the party to begin the process of drafting legislation to enact key elements of President Donald Trump's domestic policy agenda — including tax cuts and spending on defense, energy and immigration. The Senate framework, which was previously approved, outlines only about $4 billion in spending cuts. The House version seeks at least $1.5 trillion.

The Trump administration's reciprocal tariffs on many of the country’s biggest trading partners will be paused for 90 days, while tariffs on China will increase from 104% to 125%. President Donald Trump announced Wednesday he plans to keep the administration’s global baseline tariff increase of 10% in place for all countries. The higher tariffs against about 60 trading partners that went into effect earlier that day were paused as a result of extensive outreach from countries seeking to negotiate.
