Three children were among those injured in a crash at a railroad crossing in northeast Alabama on Friday night, according to officials. Just before 9 p.m., police in Scottsboro responded to the Kyle Street railroad crossing and found a Jeep Grand Cherokee had collided with a westbound Norfolk Southern train. Ron Latimer, the police chief in Scottsboro, said the Jeep overturned, ejecting one of the occupants. Police said a 24-year-old from Section was driving the Jeep.

A shooting at a north Alabama barbecue restaurant left a man dead early Saturday, according to officials. Around 12:12 a.m., officers arrived to Nash BBQ on 12th Avenue Northwest in Decatur to investigate reports of a shooting. According to a release from the department, a man suffering gunshot wounds was transported to the hospital where he later died. “This is believed to be an isolated incident,” the release said.

The closing of a Walmart location just days before Christmas could result in employee layoffs, according to a notice the company filed with the state of Alabama. Walmart is closing its neighborhood market store at 4226 Northwest Oakwood Avenue in Huntsville on Dec. 20. In a WARN notice made public last week, the company reported that 80 layoffs are planned, according to the Alabama Department of Commerce.

Mark Withers, an actor known for several high-profile television roles, including “Dynasty,” “Stranger Things” and more has died. He was 77. Withers' death was confirmed on Friday by his daughter, Jessie Withers, who said he died from pancreatic cancer, according to CNN.

A shooting at a bonfire in south Alabama has left a man dead and six juveniles injured, according to police. The shooting happened shortly before 11 p.m., in the area of Bellingrath Road and Laurendine Road in Mobile. Officials aren’t releasing the name of the man who was killed until his family has been notified, said Blake Brown, public information officer for the Mobile Police Department.
