People express considerable, if not overwhelming, support for women in politics. A supermajority (60+ per cent) of Canadians consistently agree that the best way to protect women is to elect more to Parliament (Fournier et al., Reference Fournier, Cutler, Soroka and Stolle2011; Stephenson et al., Reference Stephenson, Harell, Rubenson and Loewen2020).
