Presiding Judge Pauline Maxwell has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Diaz as the new Santa Barbara Superior Court’s commissioner. Diaz will officially take the oath of office in December. Diaz is the first female Mexican American court commissioner in the history of the Santa Barbara Superior Court.

The Superior Court of Santa Barbara is currently recruiting members for the 2024-25 Civil Grand Jury. The volunteer jury will serve July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Applications will be accepted until Monday May 13, 2024. As a key pillar of the community, Civil Grand Jury members act as guardians of government operations, ensuring accountability, transparency, and integrity in public administration, said Superior Court executive officer Darrel Parker.
