There were five heats for juveniles at the Rosehill trials on Friday morning with an eye-catching showing from Magic Millions 2YO Classic place-getter Gallo Nero a highlight, while unraced fillies by Shalaa (IRE), Written Tycoon and Exceed and Excel also came under notice. At the start of the season, Team Hawkes looked to have two potentially top class colts by Wootton Bassett (GB) in Gallo Nero and West of Swindon.

In a market dominated by off the track fillies and race mares at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale, proven producer Enbihaar proved a hot and timely item and was duly snapped up for $1.6 million in foal to champion sire Zoustar. A Group II winner by Magnus, Enbihaar is the dam of Group II winning three year-old filly Too Darn Lizzie, who sold for $2.4million earlier in the night and her weanling colt by Too Darn Hot (GB) topped the Inglis Weanling Sale on Tuesday when fetching $775,000 for Widden Stud.

Tom Magnier loves his I Am Invincible mares and having earlier tonight secured Tiz Invincible for $2.8million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale, he paid the same amount for her Group II winning stablemate Estriella, who is by the same sire. Again consigned by her trainer Ciaron Maher, Estriella is one of those mares that probably always showed more ability than her race record suggests although a Group II win on the resume and prizemoney of $1.4million is good reading.

During a high octane night of trade at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale Coolmore boss Tom Magnier was active at the top of the market purchasing three stunning mares in Amelia’s Jewel, Tiz Invincible and Estriella and also announced the fee for Wootton Bassett (GB). The reigning Champion European 2YO Sire, Wootton Bassett will be back in Australia this spring at the record breaking fee of $350,000 plus GST.

The Inglis Chairman’s Sale concluded with one of the highlight lots of the night when Group I winning $4million earner Amelia’s Jewel sold for $3.8million to Tom Magnier. Consigned by Segenhoe Stud, who foaled and raised Amelia’s Jewel for her owner breeder Peter Walsh, the star mare by champion French sire Siyouni was always going to be popular.
