Nathan Doyle and his team would be bubbling with excitement surrounding the return of their unbeaten G1 star Private Harry, but as they say ‘little fish are sweet’ and the stable were in the winner’s circle at Wyong on Tuesday with a two year-old son of Capitalist. Second on debut at Newcastle earlier this month, Divo was heavily backed as an odds on favourite for the 1100m open maiden and justified the confidence of punters.

The juvenile maiden at Wyong on Tuesday had some interesting runners including the highest price yearling by Maurice (Jpn) sold in 2024 and he did take the win, but it was not without drama. The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Champagne Hero made his debut at Canterbury a couple of weeks ago when fourth to exciting colts Autumn Boy and Central Coast, who has since come out and won.

Herman Said was ridden by Dylan Gibbons and was sent off a short priced favourite for the 900m maiden after winning a trial at Newcastle last month. He ran up to expectation, forging clear of his rivals to run right through the lien and winby more than two lengths. Herman said: I can win this, and he did! ??

A pair of Group III races were run at Sha Tin on Sunday with victory in the two last stakes races of the HK season both going to Aussie bred geldings Beauty Joy and Copartner Prance, who is a half-brother to Aquis based sire Kobayashi. The Group III Premier Plate (18000m) was won by eight year-old Sebring gelding Beauty Joy, who was a stakes-winner in Perth as a three year-old over the same distance racing as Talladega.
