Update: RealResponse rolls out for Fraternity and Sorority Life

Anonymous reporting service RealResponse was rolled out on Feb. 17 as the third phase in a plan created by the University of Oregon’s office of Fraternity and Sorority Life in an effort to create safer social events. RealResponse allows students within the FSL community and beyond to confidentially report hazing incidents, druggings, assault and mental health concerns. Students can report through texting, email or an online portal.

When the University of Oregon shared in March that its Kalapuya Ilihi residence hall would be closed for a second consecutive school year, the announcement brought yet another blow to the UO women’s beach volleyball team, who had sued the university for Title IX sex discrimination in late 2023. The closure of Kalapuya forced the university to keep the 64-year-old Hamilton residence hall open for another school year, pushing back the prospect of a new on-campus women’s beach volleyball facility.

UO considering criminal investigation after investiture disruption, vandalism

In a conversation with the Daily Emerald, University of Oregon spokesperson Eric Howald confirmed that the university is considering a criminal investigation into pro-Palestine protesters interrupting UO President John Karl Scholz’ investiture ceremony at Matthew Knight Arena on May 30. Protestors further vandalized campus property, which Howald said that UO is reviewing photo and video footage from this and the protestors’ actions at the ceremony.
