It’s been a long road to recovery for Regina Palmer, but she beat her rare disease thanks to a stranger in Germany, who they say is now family. Regina is an aplastic anemia survivor thanks to Achim Krause, a banker from Germany who banked his bone marrow and saved her life. “Obviously, him saving my life is the most incredible thing,” Regina said.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Each month during the school year, 10/11 and Doane University present a Golden Apple Award to a deserving teacher in our area. The April 2024 Golden Apple Winner is a 5th and 6th grade science and social studies teacher at Tri County Public Schools, located just south of De Witt. We found Mrs. Ginger Pittman helping with concessions at a track meet. “For years, I always said I would never get one of those Golden Apples,” Pittman said.

This month’s winner teaches music at Kooser Elementary in Lincoln. This school prides itself on being the Kodiaks, which is fitting for Matt Erb. Just as a Kodiak is the largest bear in the world, Mr. Erb’s personality is larger than life. For the surprise presentation, 10/11′s Taryn and Jon Vanderford headed to a familiar place.
