    Daytime highs have stayed close to the seasonal average (109°) this weekend. An Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect for the Coachella Valley through tonight as temperatures still have the potential to reach an upwards of 113°. The First Alert Weather Team will continue to track the possibility of high elevation thunderstorm activity as monsoonal moisture lingers. Rain activity cannot be ruled out on the valley floor.

    An Excessive Heat Warning will remain in effect until 9PM Saturday as highs could reach a few degrees above the seasonal average (109°). A boost of moisture will keep daytime highs from skyrocketing while increasing the chance of high elevation storms today. Daytime heating and today's elevated dewpoints could lead to localized storms in mountain areas and the High Desert. The best chance for storm activity is Saturday afternoon and evening.

    This week, Palm Springs city councilmembers voted to pass an ordinance that will establish a process for reducing sleeping and homeless encampments in public areas. Mayor Jeffrey Berstein, Mayor Pro Tem Ron deHarte and Lisa Middleton voted in favor of the ordinance. Councilmember Christy Holstege voted to abstain while councilmember Grace Garner voted against.
