Motorists are advised that Glen Avenue, from James Street to Maple Avenue, and George Street, from Montgomery Place to Gladstone Avenue, will be closed from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.From 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., Russell Street West, from James Street to George Street South, will be closed off. A decision by the Rideau Lakes mayor — to veto sending work on the Chantry Municipal Offices out for tender — stands after council failed to overturn the decision on May 28. Mayor Arie Hoogenboom exercised his newly acquired strong mayor powers by overturning the confirmatory bylaw passed five to three at a special meeting of council on May 12.
