Employees at the Winn-Dixie said they were not given much notice at all of plans to convert the store to an Aldi.

Coastal Outreach Soccer hosted its annual awards ceremony Friday night, recognizing hard-working students who played competitively in the program's teams while continuing to make strides in their academic achievements. Students received awards for good grades in science, technology, engineering and mathematics classes, effective use of the CAD engineering design software and participation in YoPro - Young Professionals.

The Brunswick City Commission will meet an hour and a half earlier than usual at its regular meeting on Wednesday to discuss a proposed tree resiliency plan. Matt Lee, director of forest conservation with the Green Infrastructure Center, will present to the commission a draft tree resilience plan it created at the request of the city's Tree Board. The city paid the Green Infrastructure Center via a $60,000 grant from Wells Fargo, facilitated by The Nature Conservancy.

Sewer lines in the Brunswick Villa neighborhood are a good thing from a public health position, but for residents having to deal with construction zones and unpaved roads for months, it's a substantial headache. The Brunswick-Glynn County Joint Water and Sewer Commission has, in recent years, made it a priority to run sewer lines into unserved residential areas, including Arco, Ellis Point and Brunswick Villa.

The foundation of Christianity began with the gift of salvation, and Trinity Christian Church in Brunswick was established after receiving another gift - a whole church building, delivered by barge 100 years ago. A church in Crescent, a small community in McIntosh County, had vacated its building in 1922, and it was easier at the time to disassemble the building and float it down the coast to Brunswick than to build an entirely new one, said the Rev. Wesley Deverger, Trinity's pastor.
