    An organization dedicated to victims and survivors of gun violence held a balloon release Tuesday, Oct. 24, in support of the student and teacher who were killed in a shooting on the shared campus of Central Visual and Performing Arts High School and College School of Medicine & Bioscience one year ago. The Bullet Related Injury Clinic has provided therapy for the mother of the student killed, Alexzandria Bell, and is providing free counseling for students and families from the schools as well.

    ST. LOUIS—The first hearing for a bill designed to redress transparency rifts between city officials and civilian jail oversight board members is set for the Board of Aldermen Thursday. The bill sponsored by Alderman Rasheen Aldridge details the specific number of hours training jail board members will need, requires police and circuit attorney representatives to appear before the board monthly and authorizes the board to have its own attorney.

    ST. LOUIS — The state auditor launched an investigation into the city jail Thursday, citing concerns about mismanagement, inadequate inmate nutrition and medical care, and interference with the civilian jail oversight board. The state auditor has asked St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones for the jail's food vendor invoices, facility and operational policies, and health insurance contracts by Oct. 24, plus correspondence with the city's Detention Facilities Oversight Board.
