Last year it was a struggle to fill all the open lifeguard spots at some pools. Homewood Parks and Rec says having enough lifeguards who are well trained is crucial and the better the guards, the safer the pools.

Tyrone King’s mother is still waiting for answers years after her son was shot and killed. Birmingham police are urging anyone with information information in the case to come forward. “That’s the part I won’t even know, I probably will never know, what was his last words,” Myra King told WBRC.
