    The provincial government is taking steps to address the ailing BC forest industry and has launched a review of BC Timber Sales, which manages about 20 per cent of the province’s public timber supply. BC has become the highest cost producer in North America, prompting the lumber giants, Canfor and West Fraser Timber to pull back on their BC operations, resulting in closures of sawmills and pulp mills and the loss of hundreds of jobs across the province.

    Body cameras will soon be worn by Kamloops Mounties, with the local detachment part of a national rollout of the tech devices starting on Monday.. The RCMP unveiled its country-wide roll-out plan Thursday and Kamloops is among 86 detachments across Canada to begin training to use the cameras over the next two months, starting on Monday. Deployment of cameras will be expanded to 1,000 more officers per month, with 63 more detachments using them in January and 80 more to be added in February.
