It's never too early to project what the NCAA baseball tournament will look like on Selection Monday. Much has changed around college athletics this year, as the Pac-12 broke up and the ACC, Big 12, Big Ten and SEC all expanded. This will have a massive impact on the construction of baseball's Field of 64, particularly the SEC's expansion. The conference, now at 16 teams, is deeper than ever and seems certain to get a record number of teams into the tournament. The record is 11, set last year.

The SEC can rightfully stake a claim as the best conference in college baseball - the league is home to five of the top six teams in our preseason top 25 - but you can argue the ACC features more star power in 2024. The Athletic 's two All-America teams feature 11 ACC members, including eight of the 14 first-teamers. The SEC is next with eight, three on the first team and five on the second team.

After a wild summer, Texas A&M has emerged as college baseball's preseason favorite with a stacked roster and a new-look coaching staff. The 2024 College World Series runners-up are aiming to be the last team standing in June. There is plenty of stiff competition for A&M. Within the SEC, Arkansas, LSU and reigning national champion Tennessee are set to push the Aggies. Virginia leads the pack from the ACC, and the new-look Big 12 and Big Ten conferences figure to be competitive as well.
