    NEW LOTHROP – Ovid-Elsie rebounded from its only loss to down New Lothrop Friday, 42-0. Returning to the preferred side of the ledger, Ovid-Elsie is now 7-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Mid-Michigan Activities Conference (MMAC), while the Hornets drop to 3-5 and 2-5 in league play. In Week 7, No. 3 in Division 6 Chesaning downed then-No. 4 O-E 23-7.

    CHESANING — Laingsburg junior Kaleb “Cub” Salas scored two goals, powering the Wolfpack to a 2-1 district semifinal win over Chesaning to keep its postseason run alive. Laingsburg improved to 8-5-5 on the year with the victory in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division 3 District 47 semifinal match at Chesaning, and will next play Flint Powers Catholic (15-3-2) for the district title at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at Montrose.

    ELSIE – Chesaning senior Brayden Florian drilled one of the longest field goals in state history, and then used both legs to propel his team to victory. In the much-anticipated matchup, featuring two of Division 6’s top four teams, the Indians downed Ovid-Elsie 23-7 Friday in a contest that will go a long way in deciding a Mid-Michigan Activies Conference title. Chesaning (No. 4 in D-6) is now 7-0 and 6-0 in the MMAC, while Ovid-Elsie (third in D-6) fell to 6-1 and 5-1 in league play.

    DURAND – Durand ended Ovid-Elsie’s boys’ soccer season Wednesday in the quarterfinals of a Division 3 Michigan High School Athletic Association’s District Tournament. The Railroaders received a pair of goals from senior Brayden Joslin en route to a 5-2 home win. Joslin started the game’s scoring just 4:09 in before Ovid-Elsie tied it at one on a free kick by sophomore Ryker Parsons exactly four minutes later.
