Three interesting projects from three different corners of the infrastructure sector to catch up with:NTT DATA has picked up a major digital transformation customer. They have announced a 10 year strategic collaboration with UPS to modernize the package delivery company’s IT infrastructure. As part of the deal, NTT DATA will buy and operates one of UPS’s data centers as well as provide AI and cloud services going forward. Kentucky has a new CLEC.

Some regional expansion, a new PoP, some FTTH, and some quantum network security:Zayo says it is investing $90M into network infrastructure in Tennessee. They plan to update their network backbone throughout the state, preparing for the expansion of AI workloads in the region. Zayo Education, which evolved from their acquisition of Education Networks of America is headquartered in Nashville, and Zayo’s footprint currently connects 94% of the state’s school districts.

A few items from around the world to keep up with:DE-CIX has expanded its IX footprint into Brazil for the first time. They have launched DE-CIX Sao Paulo, which touches Elea Data Centers SPO1, Ascenty SP4, and Equinix SP4. And they have launched DE-CIX Rio de Janeiro, which touches Elea Data Centers RJO1 and Equinix RJ2. The two will be interconnected from the start, enabling both local and domestic peering. GTT picked up a managed services deal in the hospitality sector.

Four interesting projects to catch up with, two in Europe and two in Latin America. EXA and Ultranet are teaming up for some new fiber in northern Italy. The two will be constructing a 175km diverse fiber route from Milan to Genoa. On the Genoa end the infrastructure will connect all existing cable landing stations, while Milan is the country’s biggest technology hub. Ultranet operates some 12,000km of fiber across Italy, while EXA’s reach extends throughout Europe and across the Atlantic.

A couple contract wins and two bits of expansion news from around the globe this week:Nokia has picked up a customer in the French Caribbean territories. Canal+ Telecom will be deploying Nokia’s Lightspan and Altiplano solutions as it rolls out FTTX capabilities in French Guiana and Guadeloupe. The technology will give them a path to 24G PON when the time comes. Cologix has a new tenant at its TOR3 location in Toronto, Canada.
