The Westminster Book Awards presented by the Booksellers Association and the Publishers Association (formerly known as the Parliamentary Book Awards) has announced this year’s shortlists. They include books from Alexei Navalny, Mishal Husain, Caroline Lucas and Jess Phillips.

An updated industry statement on professional values and behaviours has been launched today by the Publishers Association, Society of Authors, Booksellers Association and Association of Authors’ Agents. The document, originally launched five years ago, has been updated by representatives of the industry associations in consultation with their memberships.

Antonia Seymour, Chief Executive of IOP Publishing, has used her inaugural speech as president of the Publishers Association to highlight the growth of science and the value of publishing. Seymour succeeds Nigel Newton, Chief Executive of Bloomsbury Publishing, who remains an Officer of the Publishers Association.
