ISLAMABAD: The judges recently transferred to Islamabad High Court (IHC) decided not to contest but will accept whatever is decided by the Supreme Court in petitions opposing their transfer. A five-member Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, on Thursday heard the petitions of the IHC five judges, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s founder Imran Khan, Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad High Court Bar Associations, and advocate Raja Muqsit Nawaz Khan.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA), Wednesday, decided to withdraw its petition filed in the Supreme Court challenging the transfer of judges from other high courts to the Islamabad High Court (IHC). IHCBA President Wajid Gillani and Secretary Manzoor Jajja in this regard issued an authority letter to formally request the withdrawal of the petition. Advocate on-Record Anees Muhammad Shehzad has been authorised to carry out the withdrawal.

ISLAMABAD: The federation submitted that the process initiated under Article 200 of the constitution for the transfer of judges from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan High Courts demonstrate and deliver transparency and in no way undermine the independence of judiciary. The federal government on Wednesday submitted its reply against the petitions regarding transfer of judges from other High Courts to Islamabad High Court (IHC) and seniority list of IHC judges.

ISLAMABAD: The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court was informed that deliberations are going on to provide right of appeal to people sentenced by the military courts in 9th May incidents. During the proceeding, Justice Aminuddin asked Khawaja Haris to complete his arguments by tomorrow (Thursday). He then told Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman to ask the AGP Mansoor Usman Awan to come to the Court regarding right of appeal against the military courts judgment tomorrow.
