The elections in Canada and Australia have demonstrated that any party that nails its colours to Trump’s mast is destined for electoral oblivion. There is one important point, though: had this been the USA then there would have been an armed insurrection, mounted by the far right on the grounds that the election was “stolen” (with no supporting evidence). We should be grateful that we live in a true democracy; to use Elon Musk’s favourite phrase: “The people have spoken”.

Thousands of residents and visitors flocked to Anzac Day services all around the Central Coast on April 25. Gosford RSL Sub-branch President Greg Mawson said the Gosford dawn and morning services saw the biggest crowds in over a decade. “The interesting part was the huge numbers of younger people attending both services which augurs well for the future of Anzac Day celebrations as we move on,” he said. Both services saw the Gosford Cenotaph reach maximum capacity.
