Nottingham City Council successfully bid for £19.8m from the previous government’s Levelling Up Fund to revamp the area and boost economic growth. Bulwell town centre is valued in Nottingham because of its longstanding retail offer but it was felt that major infrastructure improvements would enhance this further.

North Lincolnshire Council has secured listed building consent for alterations to St John’s Church in Scunthorpe, moving forward with plans for a £2.5m children’s science and technology centre. The new facility, called Discover@20-21, will be located next to the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre and is set to open later this year, thanks to funding from the Government’s Towns Fund.

The council, which acquired the hotel last year, aims to protect a key local asset while driving regeneration in the town.
