Sri Lanka Railways (SLR) has deployed 10 new trains from Fort station to Galle, Anuradhapura, and Badulla, with first, second, and third class seating facilities. In addition, several special train services will also be in operation.

View(s): By Tharushi Weerasinghe On Wednesday, the Sunday Times received from a source a cloud storage link that contained thousands of explicit images illicitly obtained and shared without consent. The storage link had 9,605 files in 500 folders, adding up to 10 GB of data. Photos were separated into folders with the alleged name of the girl or woman in the image and, in some cases, their Instagram handle.

View(s): By Tharushi Weerasinghe Last month, Sri Lanka presented its ninth periodic report to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) where the progression and regression of women’s rights in the country were discussed and advised upon. The presentation has received mixed reviews with civil society representatives who attended the sessions in Geneva noting that the report ignored some poignant women’s issues in the country.
