A woman was arrested on Stanford’s campus on Wednesday and charged with murder. Diana Ornelas, a preschool teacher at the Children’s Center of Stanford Community (CCSC), was arraigned Friday in connection with the death of 24-year-old Oliver Waterfall, whose body was found on April 11. Waterfall had been dead for almost a month before his body was found, police said. “The arrest happened at naptime, and outside of the perimeter of the CCSC campus.

Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne was abruptly withdrawn as a speaker at a major alumni event this winter on the back of a Daily investigation exposing years of research misconduct allegations. “In the wake of the MTL controversy, he will no longer be a speaker at this event,” read an email sent by Stanford’s own fundraising office that was later obtained by The Daily. He was replaced at the event by a subordinate, Stanford’s Vice President for Development.

William Curry, the man who posed for almost a whole year as a student, living in various residences under false pretenses, returned to campus last week and spent a night in Murray House, where he was reportedly talking to residents about his ex-girlfriend, a Stanford student whom he has allegedly harassed and sent death threats since they broke up last year. The University had pledged to modify its policies last fall to prevent future intrusions.

Genentech, where Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne once served as chief scientific officer, confirmed on Thursday that there were concerns about Alzheimer’s research Tessier-Lavigne co-authored even before publication and that a senior scientist at the company later called for the paper to be retracted, an action Tessier-Lavigne did not take. The company also disclosed previously unreported research misconduct in Tessier-Lavigne’s laboratory.
