The chance of breaking down in an EV is less than half that of an ICE vehicle, according to these fresh figures.

Insights compiled by Leasing.com show that the UK’s area-specific Low Emission Zones (LEZs) and Clean Air Zones (CAZs) are seeing stronger levels of fully-electric van adoption, as businesses move to avoid costly charges to access these areas in non-compliant vehicles. The UK’s South East, which includes clean air zones such as Oxford and Portsmouth, has emerged as an electric van hotspot in the country, with over 31,700 electric vans already registered across the region.

After the winners of the 2025 World Car Awards were revealed at this year’s New York International Auto Show, it’s clear that electric cars continue to dominate in such awards ceremonies. The most prestigious ‘World Car of the Year’ award went to Kia’s fully-electric EV3 small SUV, and marks the fourth consecutive year that this specific award has been granted to a fully-electric car. Other EVs taking home awards included the Hyundai Inster, BYD Seagull, Volkswagen ID. BUZZ, and Volvo EX90.

UK fast-charging EV battery technology firm, Nyobolt, has raised a significant $30 million worth of investment in its latest round of funding, bringing the total capital raised by the firm to around $100 million. The funding was led by IQ Capital and Latitude, whilst strategic partners also included Scania Group’s venture capital fund, Scania Invest, and Takasago Industry.

Polestar has achieved a 25% cut in carbon emissions per new car sold, since the manufacturer started measuring in 2020, according to figures from its latest annual sustainability report. With this achievement, Polestar has proved that growth can be decoupled from carbon emissions, particularly within the automotive and EV industry. As its carbon emissions per car produced drop, Polestar is working towards a goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2040.
