On Friday, June 6, Judge Claudia Wilken approved the House vs. NCAA legal settlement that will fundamentally change Division I college athletics for the imminent future. Some track and field and cross-country rosters could be significantly reduced as a result of the decision, which goes into effect for the 2025-2026 school year. The class-action settlement has three major parts.

    USA Track and Field (USATF) has named the marathoners slated to race at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. On Friday, June 6, two Olympians were announced among the six athletes set to represent Team USA over 26.2 this summer. On the women’s side, Betsy Saina, Susanna Sullivan, and Erika Kemp are chasing podium spots. The men’s team includes Clayton Young, CJ Albertson, and Reed Fischer.

    When I got home from work on Tuesday, there was a package waiting on my doorstep. I had a hunch what it might be. I was too impatient to lug it up two flights of stairs to my apartment, so I opened it on the porch. Inside: three boxes of Rice Krispies Treats. 40 in each box. 120 total marshmallow bars.     On June 2, USA Track & Field (USATF) announced the qualifying procedures for the 2028 Olympic Marathon Trials, which includes “A” and “B” standards. The “B” standard, which guarantees entry into the race, will be 2:37:00 for women and 2:16:00 for men. The “A” standard is to be determined. It will be set in coordination with the local organizing committee and will include travel and accommodation funding. As of now, there is no date or location set for the 2028 Trials.
