    The Prince Rupert Men's Jubilee golf title is once again taking a hike down Highway 16, only this time it will be turning right at Highway 37. Dylan Kerbrat, from Kitimat, prevailed over a field of 47 golfers to earn the 2025 crown. Kerbrat shot rounds of 72 (two-over-par) and 70 (par) to edge out 2024 champion Scott Rigler of Terrace. For his part, Rigler made a valiant defence of the title leading the tournament after Day 1 on Saturday with a round of 71.

    A burst pipe at the Prince Rupert Regional hospital has temporarily reduced rehabilitation services and moved them to other areas of the hospital. Eryn Collins, a spokesperson for northern health, confirmed the burst pipe caused flooding on the main floor of the hospital June 16 affecting the hallway, laboratory, stores and rehabilitation areas.

    A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to ram and evade a police vessel off the coast of Prince Rupert. On the evening of Monday, June 16, police received reports that a fishing boat, which had been reported stolen out of Port Hardy on Sunday, had been spotted south of Prince Rupert. The RCMP patrol vessel Inkster and a West Coast Marine Services vessel responded and attempted to intercept the stolen boat, but it did not stop.

    The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) has hired a new vice president of business development. Katherine Bamford comes to Prince Rupert from the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority where she served 13 years as the director for trade development. In that position, she was responsible for strategic leadership and daily management of the Fraser port’s commercial customer engagement and outreach strategies, maintaining and growing market share across port sectors, the PRPA said in a press release.
