The MVP from a wild Class 3A state title game has found a college home in the state of Alabama. Mars Hill Bible star Hudson Higgins has committed to UAB, he announced on social media Wednesday afternoon. The running back prospect picked the Blazers over other offers that include Troy, Tulane, Arkansas State, Liberty, Air Force and North Alabama.

One of the state’s top prospects from the class of 2022 will be returning to his home state. Jacksonville State has signed former Alabama defensive back signee and high school star Tre’Quon Fegans, a source confirmed to AL.com on Wednesday. The move reunites Fegans with new Jax State coach Charles Kelly, who recruited Fegans during his time at Alabama under Nick Saban; Kelly also recruited Fegans’ brother, Anquon, to Auburn before taking the job at Jax State.

In a tough night to open a series against an in-state foe, Rocket City saw one of its top prospects shine yet again. Starter George Klassen’s strong night on the mound was the highlight of a 7-1 loss to the Birmingham Barons for the Trash Pandas. The No. 3-ranked prospect in the Los Angeles Angels organization pitched 5.1 shutout innings for the Trash Pandas, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out nine batters.

A starter on last year’s Jacksonville State offensive line is set to play for a new team next season. Daveion Harley announced his intentions to enter the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, four days after Jax State’s spring game on Thursday. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound transfer will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Last season saw Harley start the final eight games at center for the Gamecocks following an injury to Brock Robey, who started the first five games after a season-ending knee injury.

Former Auburn wide receiver and Central-Phenix City alum Dylan Gentry is headed to Jacksonville State, he announced on social media. The move will reunite Gentry with Charles Kelly, who was the defensive coordinator at Auburn last season and has taken over as the head coach at Jax State.
