James Clemens, which advanced to the AHSAA state semifinals, led the girls selections with five selections; four on the first team and one on the second. Buckhorn led the boys teams with five athletes being named either first or second team selections.

    Cullman High School didn’t have to look far for its next head softball coach. Former West Point baseball coach Drew Bryson has been hired as the next head softball coach at Cullman after being approved by the Cullman City School Board on Wednesday. “Drew’s coaching experience spans various levels of athletics, from youth travel teams to high school programs,” Cullman City Schools athletic director Mike Dean wrote in a release.

    A former north Alabama hoops standout will be taking over a program of her own. Lawrence County has hired Priceville alum Jenna Walker to lead the girls basketball program, it was announced on Wednesday. A standout player at Priceville, Walker was a three-time all-state selection in Class 4A, claiming first-team honors at guard as a senior with the Bulldogs and playing in the AHSAA North-South all-star game.
