Food & Drink The top spot for craft beer in Swinton has re-opened for business today under new ownership. The Swinton Hop House, formerly known as House of Hops, serves from top craft breweries such as Tartarus, Pomona Island and Marble. It has re-opened with a new look and a renewed sense of purpose. The new owner Ste Bowen said that it has been his dream to own his own place since he began working in the sector. “I’ve always wanted to own my own bar since I was 18,” Ste said.

I attended the first two of The Libertines’ three consecutive sets at the beautiful Manchester venue, taking place last Thursday and Friday. The band were electric on both nights. The Libertines remain one of the most exciting live bands in the world – their magic has not waned at all since the early 2000s.

Entertainment Follow the Signs, performed at HOME theatre this Wednesday, was a true mish-mash of different experiences with rapping, singing, dance, educating and more. The hip-hop show tells the life story of its main lead Chris Fonseca, from losing his hearing in infanthood through to his school and teenage years. He then meets Raffie, played by Manchester’s own Raphaella Julien, who also is a Deaf person but with a vastly different lived experience to Chris.
