    In looking for a safe haven for Vallejo Youth this summer, Vallejo City Councilmember Helen Marie “Cookie” Gordon may have found a venue and program that hits nothing but net. Gordon has partnered up with organizations like ELITE Public Schools, Greater Vallejo Recreation District, LaRussell’s Good Compenny, Solano Community Foundation, First Chance Vallejo, Vallejo Firefighters, Vallejo Police Department and Kaiser Permanente to bring back Vallejo Late Night Basketball.

    The Vallejo Seaweed finally lost a game this season at Wilson Park, falling 15-13 to San Rafael on Monday night. After falling behind 12-5 after six and half innings, Vallejo made a furious comeback by scoring eight runs in the last three innings. Sadly for the Seaweed faithful it wasn’t quite enough with the Pacifics adding some insurance runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

Only instead of a van he’s now driving a scooter. “Some kid back in town traded the van for it straight up,” Christmas says proudly.
