    Boki, a European brown bear, has hydrocephalus, a build-up of fluid inside his skull that is putting pressure on his brain. A team of expert zoo vets anaesthetised Boki in his enclosure at the Wildwood Trust, near Canterbury, and carefully lifted his 23-stone body onto a makeshift operating table. Elliot Simpson-Brown is in charge of monitoring Boki during the operation, to make sure he remains unconscious for his own safety, as well as those in the room.

Results revealed at an international obesity conference show those given weekly injections of the drug shed pounds for the first 65 weeks of treatment, and then sustained a stable body weight over the longer term. But AstraZeneca (AZ) said demand for the jab had tailed off as more up-to-date vaccines target newer variants of the virus. It no longer manufactures nor supplies the vaccine.

    SaxaVord Spaceport, which is on the northern tip of the Shetland Islands, will be allowed to clear and control a hazard area downrange of the launchpad to reduce the risks to aircraft and shipping. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which has responsibility for regulating space launches, said it was satisfied that the spaceport operator can provide what it called "range-control services", keeping people out of the danger zone and safely monitoring the progress of a rocket in flight.
