Visit to Hiroshima to participate in the All Asia Conference of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) in 2009 and again on the occasion of 20th World Congress of IPPNW in 2012 is an unforgettable experience. We had the opportunity to go around the Peace Memorial Museum situated adjacent to the epicentre where the atom bomb was dropped. This left a heart rending imprint in the mind about the destruction caused due to the atomic bombing.

There is a strong case for arguing that the number of nuclear weapons at world level should have never been allowed to increase to three digits, let alone four or five digits. In fact it would have been much better to find ways of stopping any accumulation of nuclear weapons at a very early stage, either even before Hiroshima or else soon after this.

The widespread prevalence of such proxy wars is well-recognized. The USA has been involved in several proxy wars. The Ukraine war has been widely discussed as a proxy war of the USA which uses Ukraine to harm Russia as much as possible.

The euphoric build-up by India’s corporate media was unprecedented — perhaps, taking their cue from American diplomats in Delhi who saw an opportunity to create public misperceptions regarding Russia. Viewed from Delhi, the Ukraine question has transformed into the objective correlative of the US-India relationship. Which is no small matter, of course.
