Superintendent Todd Beatty spoke on the preliminary budget for 2025/26 for the Northern Bedford School District at the April Board of Directors meeting. He stated that currently the budget stands at an $803,000 deficit which includes a recommended 3% tax increase. The Act I Index set at the maximum allowable tax increase is 5.5%. The general fund balance will cover the budget deficit beyond federal, state, and local revenues.

Spring Cove School District Business Manager Steven Foor, presented the board with a proposed preliminary budget for 2025-26 at their finance and legal committee meeting, stating that in 18 years of preparing a budget he has never seen more uncertainty than he has for this budget. Exactly what the district will receive in state or federal funding remains very uncertain.

The Taylor Township April supervisors meeting began with the opening of sealed bids for road work on Carper and Kensinger Road. New Enterprise Stone and Lime and Grannas Brothers were the two bidders for the road work. New Enterprise’s bid for the work came in at $357,000 while Grannas Brothers were at $382,000. The board unanimously agreed to accept the bid from New Enterprise Stone and Lime.
