Popular Summary Entanglement is the essential resource that enables quantum information and processing tasks. Historically, sources of entangled light were developed as experimental tools to test the foundations of quantum mechanics. In this study, we make an extreme version of such a source, where the entangled photons are separated in energy by 5 orders of magnitude, to engineer a quantum interconnect between light and superconducting microwave devices.

astrocytesdentate gyrusGABAGABABinhibitionsomatostatin interneuronSignificance StatementGABAergic interneurons provide powerful inhibition to cortical circuits, by directly regulating the activity of other neurons through metabotropic GABAB receptors. While much is known about the basic properties of GABAB receptor signaling, current knowledge of the relative contribution made by specific interneuron subpopulations to this inhibitory neurotransmission mechanism is less well understood.

By Thomas Watson, MD There have been amazing medical advances in recent years – a non-smoking acquaintance in his 40’s was diagnosed with lung cancer several years ago, and instead of a life expectancy of six months, he is living comfortably taking a pill designed for his cancer, for which he had a genetic predisposition. We’ve seen these breakthroughs in many fields of medicine, but unfortunately, advancements in treatment for patients with kidney disease have lagged behind.
