Stickleback fish sport false eyes to deflect attacks (Kjernsmo & Merilaita, 2013), cephalopods change colour to disrupt their body outline (Hanlon et al., 2009), and larval moths masquerade as the branches on which they rest (Rowland et al., 2020).
