Tom Yeung here with your Sunday Digest. In the 1940s, mathematician John von Neumann began working with Princeton University meteorologist Jule Charney on a computer model to predict the weather. The first version… well… wasn’t that useful. It took 24 hours for their ENIAC punch-card machine to model 24 hours of weather… something you could also do in real-time by looking out a window. But computers eventually got faster, and weather forecasters began using machines to help refine their work.

Tom Yeung here with your Sunday Digest. Last week, I showed you three swing trade stocks to buy immediately.  A system co-designed by TradeSmith Senior Analyst Jeff Clark was sounding the alarm over volatility, creating a golden opportunity to buy gyrating stocks. With this insight, I used another TradeSmith quantitative system to identify those three stocks to buy.  We’re already seeing Jeff’s predictions come true.

Tom Yeung here with your Sunday Digest. Every parent knows that the concept of “gravity” comes naturally to children.  By 3 months, many infants can follow the path of a bouncing ball. For better or worse, April’s “Liberation Day” was a chance to make a lot of money. On the positive side, the volatility surge created some incredible deals. In mid-April, I reported how one of our quant systems identified five incredible stocks to buy during this period. Here’s how they’ve done since: Papa John’s International Inc. (PZZA): +29% Coupang Inc. (CPNG): +26% JBT Marel Corp. (JBTM): +18% Dollar General Corp.

Tom Yeung here with your Sunday Digest. Ever wonder why the stock market seems to hibernate during summer? The most likely explanation comes from 18th-century England. At the time, wealthy British investors often sold their stocks before moving to their country homes for the summer. The seasonal fire sales supposedly caused markets to slump. Fast forward to today, and much like afternoon tea and handlebar mustaches, this centuries-old habit seems to live on.
