Change is coming to the galactic order of the Marvel Universe in Imperial. The four-issue event series by writer Jonathan Hickman and artists Iban Coello and Federico Vincentini kicked off with its first issue this week, laying the foundation for a new era of cosmic storytelling. Some of this has already been foreshadowed with the announcements of Imperial War: Black Panther and Imperial War: She-Hulk one-shots.

The Marvel Knights line was a boon for the publisher when it debuted in 1998, and two of its architects are back for Marvel Knights: The World To Come.

It’s rare for me to get genuinely excited about a comic book release nowadays. There’s a constant cycle of reboots and relaunches, and everything builds towards the next big “event” crossover. Even with this in mind, the rare project can present itself that is too enticing, too tempting to straight out ignore. For me, Imperial is that type of anticipated comic.

Ice Cream Man is looking to serve up some yummy new tales of horror this summer. The last issue of the Image Comics anthology series was released at the end of January, meaning there’s been a super-sized wait for the next installment. The anthology comes from creators W. Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo, Chris O’Halloran, and Good Old Neon, and has been nominated for a 2025 Eisner Award in the category of Best Single Issue/One-Shot.
