A recent survey of 2,000 motorists revealed troubling statistics: 63% delay buying new tyres until they fail their MOT, and 23% do not consider the dangers of worn tyres. Alarmingly, 11% wait until their tyres are completely bald. The situation is worse among younger drivers, with three in five neglecting to check tyre conditions. Government data indicates that around 2.15 million MOT failures annually are due to tyre defects, leading to £416 million in economic costs over the past five years.
