An 81-year-old Royal Navy officer has finally passed out of Britannia Royal Naval College, more than six decades after he first began training there. Captain Malcolm Farrow missed his original passing out parade back in the early 1960s after switching trades from engineer to seaman - and never completed the traditional graduation ceremony. "I am absolutely amazed. I mean, I'm almost speechless. And that takes a lot to make me speechless.

The Royal Navy is training sailors to lead in more uncertain times, the Armed Forces Minister has said. Luke Pollard made the comments in an interview with BFBS Forces News during a visit to see 150 cadets pass out at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. Mr Pollard's visit to the college comes ahead of the Carrier Strike Group 25's deployment to the Indo-Pacific.

They may look like fairly ordinary work boats – but they're anything but, having been developed by Thales at its Turnchapel Wharf site in Plymouth. They use AI and sensors to find and eliminate mines, all overseen by a control centre, which can be located either on a ship or on land.

Sikh soldiers have been on the range wearing the patka – a headdress that's a bit like a bandana and is traditional to the Sikh faith. But for the first time ever they're in Multi Terrain Pattern camouflage material. "So we are going to tie the patka. It's called MTP patka for Sikhs," said Corporal Manpreet Singh Lally from the Royal Corps of Signals. Major Dal Singh Virdee, of HQ Field Army, explained how the camouflage version of the headdress came about.
