Source: Cannes Film Festival Germany’s Leonine Studios is to receive the European distributor of the year award at exhibitor convention CineEurope 2025. The prize will be presented at the CineEurope awards ceremony on June 19 in Barcelona, Spain. Leonine Studios’s theatrical releases include US titles through to German franchises and international arthouse films. In 2024, Leonine co-produced and distributed School Of Magical Animals 3, the highest-ranking German film of the year by admissions.

Source: Vision Distribution EXCLUSIVE: Glass House Distribution has acquired North American rights to Hey Joe, starring James Franco. The deal was finalised at the Marché du Film in Cannes with Italy’s Vision Distribution. Hey Joe is directed by Italian filmmaker Claudio Giovannesi, who won the Silver Bear for best screenplay for Fiore at the 2019 Berlinale.

Meanwhile, Mariela Besuievsky of Spain’s Tornasol Media and Pandora da Cunha Telles of Portugal’s Ukbar Films have both been re-elected to the EPC board. Each will serve a two-year mandate.
