Giona A. Nazzaro will continue as artistic director of the Locarno Film Festival for another three years, the festival confirmed today. Nazzaro took over the role in at the beginning of 2021 and has overseen four festival editions so far. The festival said he will stay in post until its 80th anniversary edition in 2027. The news was confirmed following the festival’s annual General Assembly today (April 15), chaired by president Maja Hoffman.

Alexandra Lebret, the former managing director of the European Producers Club, has officially launched the Together Fund in partnership with Paris-based investment firm Axio Capital. The Together Fund has so far raised €57.8m to invest in around 12-15 European independent film and television production companies. It aims to raise €100m in total.

China is to cut the number of US films allowed to enter the country. The move was announced by the China Film Administration shortly after President Donald Trump hiked tariffs yesterday (April 9) on Chinese products to 125%. “The wrong action of the US government to abuse tariffs on China will inevitably further reduce the domestic audience’s favorability towards American films,” the China Film Administration said in a statement.
