    Without getting into the merits of Robert Aquilina’s case, his resignation from Repubblika undeniably risks plunging the NGO into crisis. Repubblika was set up in late 2018 and shot to national prominence a year later when it played a leading role in the street protests in the midst of the 2019 political crisis. The resignation of the seemingly indomitable Joseph Muscat proved to be a feather in their cap, and Repubblika was able to pitch itself as an NGO that gives results.

    Former Repubblika activist Robert Aquilina said he would sooner face prison time than tell the police who leaked the findings of the Pilatus Bank magisterial inquiry to him. After Aquilina announced that the police will interrogate him under caution over the leaks tomorrow, Lovin Malta asked the activist whether he believes he could sent to prison. He said he isn’t excluding anything other than that he won’t reveal his sources come what may.

    Jason Micallef has accused Nationalist MPs who have urged the government to reclaim Manoel Island of hypocrisy. Micallef pointed out that Manoel Island was leased to MIDI, along with Fort Tigne, on a 99-year concession under a PN government back in 2000. “Hypocrisy will soon become a national holiday for some people,” he said.
