    An exceptionally high tide combined with strong winds has caused flooding and travel disruption across the UK. Some coastal roads were left impassable, seaside businesses were damaged, and rail services were affected. A yellow rain warning for parts of south and east Scotland is in place until 18:00 BST. Weather warnings put in place in England have now expired, but 42 flood warnings and 182 alerts are active. Flood warnings mean flooding is expected, whereas alerts mean it is possible.

    The BT Tower, an iconic feature of London's skyline, is set to be turned into a hotel after it was sold for £275m. It joins a list of landmarks across England that have been converted for new ventures, as the country and its buildings evolve. Looming over the River Thames, the beloved Art Deco edifice was transformed into a shopping and leisure complex during a 10-year project which saw its four famous white chimneys dismantled and rebuilt, due to the corrosion of their steel structures.

    The stories of England's working class heritage will be told through 56 new projects funded by Historic England. Histories including drag in Newcastle's Gay Village, life at Newhaven's Parker Pen factory and 40 years of London's Chinatown will be explored. The public body has pledged £875,000 to a range of projects that will shine a light on the diversity of English heritage. "Every community has a story to tell," Historic England said.

    A chicken shop owner in Greater Manchester who took on Tesla in a trade mark dispute has been left £12,000 out of pocket after losing his case. Amanj Ali, 41, owned the trade mark "Tesla Chicken & Pizza", which he registered for a new takeaway. He then opposed electric car maker Tesla's bid to protect its trade mark for food and drinks services in the UK. Tesla argued Mr Ali's trade mark would take advantage of its reputation. The BBC has approached Tesla for comment.
