The coaching staff for the West Nebraska All-Star weekend is set. Garden County's Chad Dormann will lead the West team for the football game, which is set for 11 a.m. June 7 at Bearcat Stadium. He will be assisted by Sidney's Scot Anderson, Valentine's Ian Bish and Hay Springs' Trevor Ginkens. Araphaoe's Dustin Kronhofman will coach the East squad and be assisted by Cozad's Jayce Dueland, Brady's Andy Seaman and Arapahoe's John Strand.

LEXINGTON — Paxton Dart scored on a penalty kick with 33 seconds left in regulation to give Scottsbluff a 3-2 comeback win over Holdrege in a Subdistrict B-8 boys soccer semifinal Monday afternoon. Dart's goal came after Gabriel Hernandez-Limon was fouled and injured on a Bearcats' attack. His penalty kick helped cap a furious rally for the Bearcats, who trailed by two goals midway through the second half. . Scottsbluff was scheduled to play top-seeded Lexington in the championship game Tuesday.

SIDNEY — Lance Holley won the boys 100, 200 and 400 meters and also was part of the winning 400 relay as Sidney finished first as a team in Friday's Western Conference track meet at Weymouth Field. Sidney junior Katie Dowse was first in the girls 400 and 800 as the Sidney girls also won the team title. Gering was second in the girls competition followed by Chadron, Scottsbluff, Mitchell and Alliance.

Local boys and girls soccer teams will all hit the road for the NSAA postseason, which begins this weekend and continues into early next week. The Scottsbluff girls earned the No. 4 seed and was scheduled to face fifth-seeded Holdrege in a Subdistrict B-8 quarterfinal on Saturday afternoon at Kearney High School. Holdrege converted four penalty kicks to beat Scottsbluff last Saturday after the teams battled through a scoreless regulation and overtime period.

Torrington's Brooklyn Asmus showed again Tuesday night that she is one of the premier sprinters in the area. The Blazers' junior set a meet record in the girls 100 in 11.96 seconds, and also finished first in the 200 (26.22) and 400 (59.86) and also was part of the winning 400 relay team (49.65) at Bearcat Stadium. She earned the Athlete of the Meet for her performance during the Best in the West event, an honor which she shared with Lance Holly.
