NORTH MANKATO — If you think you get things pretty quickly from Amazon now, the deliveries in the Mankato region could be even a little faster in the future. Amazon is building a delivery center in the Northport Industrial Center, located along Carlson Drive, south of Palmer Bus and Blue Star Power. “They call it a ‘last-mile’ center,” said North Mankato Community Development Director Mike Fischer.

MANKATO — Crews of Mankato and North Mankato employees and a contingent of volunteers made quick work of grinding off welds and removing bolts from bases to deinstall 32 sculptures Saturday morning. On May 17 another 32 pieces will be installed for the upcoming CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour. “We have a 20-foot shark coming. We’re working on how to get that here,” said Amy Klugherz, chair of the sculpture tour.

Tariffs and a slowdown in the ag economy would be a blow to the state, said panelists at a forum in Mankato Friday. Brett Feldman, who grew up in Renville and now is a credit analyst at United Prairie Bank in Mankato, said rural communities like his hometown are dependent on ag. The top three employers in town are all agriculture related.
