In reality, our library, and libraries across Adair County, have seen increased usage and circulation. Libraries still act as a hub for information and research and have adapted in the age of the internet by being equipped with internet, computers and even hotspots. Libraries are also — and increasing becoming — an important third place.

    As Marist battled St. Viator in an East Suburban Catholic Conference matchup, sophomore guard Caroline Flynn was everywhere for the RedHawks. She scored on fast breaks and hard drives to the hoop, pulled down rebounds, dished out assists and piled up steals as a defensive star. Sure, Flynn wanted to help lead the team to the win, but on this day, a little more was on the line. Marist hosted a fundraiser for the Jan. 11 game with all proceeds going to the Flynn Family.

But after playing a supporting role off the bench as a freshman and sophomore, Harris has stepped into a starring role for the Mustangs this season, and she’s running with the opportunity. Helping Evergreen Park (EP) to a 62-19 victory on Jan. 9 at Tinley Park, Harris finished with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, a steal and a block in the South Suburban Conference crossover.
