It was a bad night last Saturday in Louisville for Gerad Parker’s Irish offense. Execution was poor. Play-calling either preceded or followed suit pending your purview, and as for putting his players in the best position to succeed, that might’ve been the evening’s overlying, less-discussed reality.

Notre Dame brought its 18th-ranked pass defense west in an attempt to slow the roll of 2022 Heisman hopeful Caleb Williams. Game. Set. Match—but watch me run to win. Four touchdowns in total: Heisman Showcase thank-you-very-much-(again) Notre Dame. Williams indeed cemented his Heisman victory that Saturday night albeit with just one touchdown pass tossed.
