    Speculation has been running rife since the nuclear-powered attack submarine, HMS Astute, was manoeuvred into the Devonport naval base by Serco tugs earlier this week.     Britain’s fleet of P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft will head to the United States later this year to begin a programme of depot, or depth in UK parlance, maintenance. The Ministry of Defence had hoped to carry out the work, which could initially cost around £100m at a site in Britain, but they told Defence Eye that it had not been “possible to develop an affordable UK-based solution”.
